Dad, I Can Have A Dog?

Sooner or later every parent can hear: "Please, can I have a dog?"

Instead of ducking the question parents should ask if your family is ready for a pet, "said Sharon Bergen, senior vice president of education and training for Knowledge Learning Corporation, the leading provider of Early Childhood Education.

Bergen suggests that parents the pros and cons of adding a pet at home before the adoption outweigh the request of the child. "A pet can teach children responsibility and a wonderful addition to a family member or a burden, " he said. Bergen recommends families consider the following points before taking a decision.

Who cares about animals? Families should be agreed in advance who is responsible for feeding, walking, bathing and cleaning up after animals.

There is room for your pet? Can families live in apartments or houses, a bird or a catfish and Labrador prefer. Check the library or the Internet, and information about the different breeds of domestic animals to determine the most suitable for the family.

Owning a pet takes time and can be expensive. Family members must realize that you care without any other activities for a pet. If the prospect seems too difficult, the parents are encouraged to wait until the child is old enough to take care of animals.

Mountains to all families for animals before deciding to take care of home. Owning a pet is a long-term commitment, so think carefully before adopting a new member of the Fur family.
